On June 30, 2009 our mom, Celia Bailey, will celebrate her 90th birthday. She was born to William Riggs and Annie Larsen Poppleton and was the youngest of nine children. Robert and Julia Burgoyne Russon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29. The family of Dr. L. Spencer and Joyce Keller Parkinson wish them a very happy 60th anniversary. They were married on June 27, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple. The family of Lee and Laura McDonald would like to congratulate them on their 60th anniversary. A celebration was held in their honor on Monday, June 22, 2009. On June 28, 1949, C. Keith Hirst and Afton Daines were married in the Logan LDS Temple. They met and married while both were employed at Sears. Today they are celebrating 60 years together. The family of J. Clark and Shirley Gibbs are happy to announce their 60th wedding anniversary. The family had a surprise celebration on Saturday, June 27. Clark and Shirley were married June 29, 1949. It is significant that the man and woman are to help each other (Genesis 2:18, 20) fill the measure of their creation. It is not so much a matter of one and one becoming two in marriage. It is more a matter of two halves becoming one. This describes Dad and Mom. Both had their own interests, but their main priority, was each other. Glenn C. and Elaine Hansen Covert, of Hyrum, will celebrate their upcoming 60th wedding anniversary with a family party on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Glenn and Elaine met in 1948, while Glenn worked at the grocery store owned by Elaine’s parents, H. Cleve and Melva Karren Hansen. Glenn’s parents were Thomas Abner and Emily Coombs Covert. Love blossomed and the couple was married on December 9, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They eventually welcomed five daughters and two sons: Cheryl Lee (Mrs. Robert Suiter), Thomas Cleve, Carolyn (Mrs. Daniel Livingston), Suzanne (Mrs. Lewis Hagerman), Laurie (Mrs. Al Burns), Jeffrey Glenn, and Jan. Both Thomas and Jan died in infancy, and Cheryl passed away in October 1999.
